Accepting these terms.
By creating an account or using Sadd ("the app", "we", "us"), you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. If you are using Sadd on behalf of a mosque or organization, you confirm you are authorized to bind it.
What Sadd is — and isn't.
Sadd is a phone-discipline and worship-companion app. It seals apps you choose behind a deliberate question, converts each bypass into a charitable donation, and bundles Quran, adhkār, prayer times, and related tools.
Sadd is a tool, not a muftī. Our framing of niyyah, muḥāsaba, and sadaqah is intended to support your own practice — it is not a fatwa and does not replace a qualified scholar. The app's "kaffārah"-style donation is a voluntary sadaqah you commit to yourself, distinct from the classical fiqh categories of kaffārah or zakāt.
Nothing in Sadd should be relied upon as legal, financial, medical, or religious advice.
Accounts & eligibility.
- You must be at least 13 years old, or have a parent/guardian set up the app via Apple Family Sharing.
- You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your device secure.
- One person per account. Don't impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation.
- We may refuse, suspend, or reclaim accounts that abuse the service or the charity flow.
Subscriptions & billing.
Sadd is free for the essentials. Sadd Pro is an optional subscription billed through your Apple ID.
Sadaqah & charity disbursement.
This is the heart of the app, so the terms are explicit.
- Sadaqah is a commitment contract you sign once on our web portal (sadd.app), where you save a card with Stripe. The app never collects payment.
- You set the amount (from $0.50 a bypass) and a monthly cap (default $10). Each bypass you log authorizes a charge of that amount toward the charity you selected, never exceeding your cap.
- Charges are processed by Stripe and routed to your chosen charity through Stripe Connect. Every charge is itemized on a receipt.
- Once funds are disbursed to a charity, they are a completed gift and cannot be refunded by Sadd. Disputes about a specific charge before disbursement can be raised within 7 days.
- We make reasonable efforts to vet partners but are not responsible for a charity's own use of funds. Donations may or may not be tax-deductible depending on your jurisdiction — consult your own advisor.
Acceptable use.
Use Sadd as intended. Do not:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or circumvent the app's shielding or payment mechanisms.
- Use the service to launder funds or route donations to entities you do not control or trust.
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the app without our written permission.
- Interfere with the app's operation, security, or other users' experience.
Intellectual property.
Sadd, the سدّ wordmark, the app's design, copy, and code are owned by Sadd, Inc. and protected by law. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for its intended purpose. Quranic text and translations are sourced from openly licensed corpora and remain the work of their respective publishers.
Disclaimers.
Sadd is provided "as is." We work hard to keep it calm and reliable, but we don't promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will produce any particular spiritual or behavioral outcome. Prayer times and qibla are calculated estimates — verify against your local authority where precision matters. Screen Time shielding depends on Apple's frameworks and device permissions, which can change or fail outside our control.
Limitation of liability.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sadd, Inc. is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the prior 12 months or $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply to the maximum extent permitted.
Termination.
You can stop using Sadd and delete your account at any time — we believe in no lock-in. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms or misuse the charity flow. On termination, your license ends; sections that by nature should survive (payments owed, IP, disclaimers, liability) continue to apply.
Governing law.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Kings County, New York, unless a mandatory consumer-protection law in your country provides otherwise.
